Description
The Astoria-Megler Bridge is over four miles long and crosses the Columbia River at Astoria, Oregon, approximately 4 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. It is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
This image was captured while enjoying the view from the deck of Astoria's Cannery Pier Hotel. The drama of this structure in contrast with the vast openness of the landscape is breathtaking, not only for its beauty, but also for the engineering of such a complex structure.
